Pro 21:20…There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spends it up.

Treasure is a concentration of riches, often one which is considered lost or forgotten until being rediscovered, it can also be called valuable or precious possessions of any kind. For most people treasures are accumulated or stored wealth in the form of money, jewels, or other valuables. It could also be gold, silver, precious stones, all sort of foods, riches and costly raiment; all of which may be lawfully desired ,sought after, and, when obtained, can be laid up for future use.

By divine treasures, we mean talents, potentials, knowledge, gifts and endowments given to you by God. For example, in the bible, Bezaleel the son of Uri (during the time of Moses, Exo 31:2) was endowed with the wisdom and knowledge to devise cunning works and work in all manner of workmanship. This tells us that every man has a special gift, grace, knowledge given by God to make him outstanding in life.
God in Isaiah 45:3 said this “And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou may know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel“. What this means is that what had been laid up in private places, and had not seen the light for many years are the things God promised to give to us. Our attitude in searching out and utilizing these divine deposits determines our altitude in life.

Most times, treasures are hidden or locked away and adventures are usually attached to their acquisitions. Naturally, treasures are concealed within parks, typically tucked away from the main roads, off the beaten path and accessible only by hiking into the wilderness. It takes a seasoned explorer to gain their knowledge and understanding, and we might not find all what we seek in one place. So also, It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter..Pro 25:2. A wise man stores up all “treasure to be desired” of wisdom, all “oil” of divine influence, which strengthens and refreshes, and so is ready at all times for the work to which the Master calls him. He gains uprightly, spends moderately, and never exhausts himself, he keeps discovering new treasures. But the foolish man spends it up; he swallows it up at once, as soon as he has gotten it, wastes and lavishes away what could be spared for his own blessings and that of posterity. The foolish man also might decide not to discover his oil of well (his strength and opportunities) in life.

You are worth far more than rubies. You are worth so much that one man (Jesus Christ) gave His life up for you to acquire you (that means He has invested so much in you that is yet to manifest). He has not stuck you on a shelf to collect dust. Your life is a treasure that the Lord admires. The greatest treasure we can find is a personal knowledge of Jesus Himself, “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Colossians 2:3. Throughout the pages of the Bible are treasures of wisdom, instruction, praise, courage, opportunities, faithfulness and hope; so , come to Jesus , repent of your sins , accept Him as your Lord and Saviour . Dig into His words (the bible) for instruction and grab the opportunity of tapping into the well of oil within to enrich your world.
